After many radio stations eliminated R. Kelly's music from their playlist, now his two YouTube channels have been banned.
R. Kelly TV and R. Kelly Vevo have been deactivated. However, the convicted singer's music is still available on the audio-streaming service YouTube Music.
"Egregious actions committed by R. Kelly warrant penalties beyond standard enforcement measures due to a potential to cause widespread harm," YouTube's head of legal, Nicole Alston, wrote in a memo, according to Bloomberg.com.
"Ultimately we are taking this action to protect our users similar to other platform," Alston continued, adding, that Kelly will no longer be able to use, own or create YouTube channels.
In September, R. Kelly was convicted of nine criminal counts by a federal jury in New York, including racketeering, sex trafficking and the sexual exploitation of a child. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, but could receive up to life in prison.
