Snoop Dogg celebrates 50th birthday with his new group, Mount Westmore, feat. Ice Cube, E-40 & Too Short

Def Jam Recordings

Snoop Dogg has reached a milestone -- living a half century -- and he celebrated his 50th birthday Tuesday with the debut of his new supergroup, Mount Westmore.

The group consists of Snoop, Ice Cube, E-40 and Too Short, who released “Big Subwoofer," the first track from the album Snoop Dogg Presents THE ALGORITHM. This is the Doggfather's first project in his new role as executive creative consultant for Def Jam Recordings. In the single's video, the four rap legends ride across the galaxy in a Star Wars-inspired spaceship.

Snoop reveals in a promo video, "I always had a dream to be on Def Jam...Def Jam Records was the holy grail of hip hop...They were like a family...they were hip." Over the years, the Def Jam roster has included JAY-Z, Kanye West, LL Cool J, Rihanna, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Run-D.M.C., Rick Ross, Ludacris and many more stars.

Snoop's goal is to provide the Def Jam artists with "love, and give them wisdom, and give them guidance and understanding, and teach them some of the tricks that I learned in the game."

THE ALGORITHM will include Def Jam artists past and present. A release date for the album has not been announced.

The "Gin & Juice" rapper celebrated his birthday with a special gift: a brand-new car emblazoned with the colors of his favorite team, the purple and gold of the Los Angeles Lakers. "Snoop Dogg" is written on the headrests, and a custom painting of the Lakers, featuring Snoop, LeBron James and the late Kobe Bryant, is displayed on the trunk.
