Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello is among the first guests on Free Speech + Other Dirty Words, a new interview series launched by Spin and the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression aka FIRE.

During the conversation, Morello recounts his experiences with censorship and having his freedom of speech limited, ranging from his underground high school newspaper to Rage Against the Machine sneaking in a swear word onto MTV and the band's naked protest during Lollapalooza 1993.

"I think there's only two positions on freedom of speech," Morello says. "You're for it or you’re against it."

You can watch the interview streaming now via the FIRE YouTube channel.

In other Rage Against the Machine happenings, the band is among the nominees to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. The "Killing in the Name" outfit is on the ballot for the fifth time.
