As the second season of Wu-Tang: An American Saga unfolds and fans see the iconic rap group make one of their most impactful albums, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), some of the season two cast members are weighing in on Wu-Tang's most prolific songs from the 1993 release.
Ashton Sanders, who plays Wu-Tang founder RZA, says his favorite song is the perfect way to describe the Staten Island-bred group.
"'Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthin ta F' Wit,'" Sanders tells ABC Audio. "I think the production on that is... sick."
TJ Atoms, who plays Wu-Tang's Ol' Dirty Bastard, agrees, noting that the song also brings back memories of him as a kid.
"I was in a [rap] group back in the day and we thought we was Wu-Tang Clan," Atoms recalls. "We used to come to our show thirty deep. We actually rapped over that song 'Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthin ta F' Wit.'"
While that particular song has its own cheerleaders, other Wu-Tang castmates feel there's a more deserving track on 36 Chambers.
"I have to go with 'Protect Ya Neck,'" says Siddiq Saunderson, who plays Wu-Tang's Ghostface Killah. "Like you really hear the individualism that is alive within the group -- which is what makes Wu-Tang unlike any other group."
Sanderson's co-star Damani Sease, who plays Wu-Tang's U-God, concurs, adding that "Protect Ya Neck" is the song that makes everyone "just go crazy."
Of course, there are a few dissenters. Staten Island-born Johnell Xavier Young, who plays Wu-Tang's GZA, calls "C.R.E.A.M." the Staten Island anthem, while Shameik Moore, who plays Wu-Tang's Raekwon, calls the song "Ice Cream," from Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx album, his official "jam."
