The story of Pavement is going from the stage to the screen.

Following the premiere of the Pavement-inspired off-Broadway musical Slanted! Enchanted! The New Yorker reports that a film about the "Cut Your Hair" outfit is also in the works. As for what the movie will actually entail, however, that's something of a mystery.

Filmmaker Alex Ross Perry, who directed Slanted! Enchanted! and is also set to helm the upcoming movie, describes the project as "legitimate, ridiculous, real, fake, idiotic, cliché, illogical" and compares it to a combination of all the films about Bob Dylan.

"You take the Todd Haynes Bob Dylan movie, the Scorsese documentary, the Pennebaker documentary, and the movie Dylan himself directed that everyone hates and put them all in a blender," Perry says of his film.

Slanted! Enchanted! the musical premiered in workshop performances earlier this month at the Sheen Center in New York City. No release date for the movie has been announced.
