Pantera bassist Rex Brown has shared a statement regarding his health after missing the band's performance at Knotfest Chile last weekend.

In an Instagram post, Brown writes that he's contracted a "very mild strain of COVID."

"Because of our own protocols, I simply do not wanna risk getting my brothers or the crew sick!!" Brown continues. "I'm feeling better & am on my way to a speedy recovery."

Brown and longtime Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo reunited this year to reform the "Walk" metallers with Black Label Society's Zakk Wylde and Anthrax's Charlie Benante in place of the late Abbott brothers, "Dimebag" Darrell and Vinnie Paul, respectively. The shows mark the first Pantera concerts since 2001.

Anselmo's Illegals bandmate Derek Engemann and ex-Down guitarist Bobby Landgraf have been filling in for Brown.

Pantera will close out their current South American tour December 18 at Knotfest Brazil. Next year, they'll tour Europe before returning to the U.S. in the summer to headline Wisconsin's Rock Fest and open for Metallica's stadium tour.
