Machine Gun Kelly has responded to a battery lawsuit against him after reportedly missing the initial deadline, Rolling Stone reports.
The suit was filed last September by a Los Angeles parking lot attendant named John Tilli, who accuses the "Bloody Valentine" rocker of pushing and "yelling threats" at him during an incident the previous month.
According to documents obtained by Rolling Stone, Tilli attempted 19 times to serve Kelly with the suit at his home address, and also published a notice in the Los Angeles Daily Journal.
Upon missing the deadline to answer the suit, a judge in the case ruled Kelly as "default." Rolling Stone reports that Kelly has now filed to protest that "default" ruling, noting his career in the music industry in explaining his initial lack of response.
"As a result of my profession, there are many stories, accounts, reports and other write-ups citing my stage name, 'Machine Gun Kelly' [that] purport to describe activities in which I have been involved," the musician, born Colson Baker, wrote. "When I followed them regularly, I found that many of the publications ranged from false to only partially true."
"These publications occur sometimes multiple times each day," the filing continued. "As a result, I no longer make it common practice to read publications about me or those that cite to my entertainment name, Machine Gun Kelly, to determine whether or not something therein is truthful, newsworthy or should place me on notice."
Kelly also notes that he's since retained counsel, while adding he denies the allegations.
Last October TMZ reported that the LA City Attorney's Office declined to bring charges against Kelly in the case.
