Hole is "absolutely not" reuniting, says Courtney Love

It's time once again to bury those Hole reunion hopes.

In a new interview with Vogue, Courtney Love was asked whether the "Celebrity Skin" rockers will ever have have a "proper" reunion.

Her response? "No, absolutely not."

"You guys have gotta get over it," Love says. "Our old manager Peter Mensch calls once a year to ask about a reunion: 'Hey, just doing my thing I do every year with you and [Led Zeppelin's] Jimmy Page.' And I'm so honored to be in that company, but it's just not gonna happen."

Love's firm denial comes after a few years of what certainly seemed like building blocks towards a reunion. In 2019, Love posted, then deleted, a photo of her jamming with drummer Patty Schemel and bassist Melissa Auf der Maur along with the hashtags #Hole and #Rehearsal. And in an interview with NME published last fall, Love shared that she'd "love" to play with them again.

Even if a reunion won't be happening, Love says she's "really good friends" with her former band mates.

"Melissa and I are especially close -- we talk every day," Love says. "But [guitarist] Eric [Erlandson] is kinda off-the-grid right now -- I think he's in Japan literally becoming a monk."

"I'm not even kidding," she adds. "Melissa, Patty, and I think he's become a monk or something on that level of aestheticism."

Meanwhile, Love has launched a new solo covers project called Bruises of Roses. Her first track, a rendition of the folk song "California Stars," is streaming now on YouTube.
