Governors Ball announces COVID-19 vaccine or negative request requirement

New York City's Governors Ball is the latest festival to require COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test.

Organizers have announced that attendees who aren't fully vaccinated -- -- i.e. two weeks after the second of the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna shot, or two weeks after the one-shot Johnson & Johnson jab -- must obtain a negative test within 72 hours of attending the festival.

Gov Ball 2021 takes place September 24-26 at NYC's Citi Field. The lineup includes Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers, Portugal. the Man, Bleachers, Post Malone, 24kGoldn, A$AP Rocky and Megan Thee Stallion, among others.

Meanwhile, Franklin, Tennessee's Pilgrimage Festival has also announced a new COVID policy, which requires either full vaccination of a negative test obtained within 48 hours of attending.

Pilgrimage 2021 takes place September 25-26, and features Dave Matthews Band, The Black Keys, Cage the Elephant and Black Pumas, among others.

Festivals that have previously announced vaccine or negative test requirements include Bonnaroo, Summerfest, Life Is Beautiful, Louder than Life, Aftershock and Inkcarceration. Additionally, concert promoter AEG, which puts on Coachella, has announced that its shows will require proof of vaccination starting October 1.
