Blink-182 bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus revealed on Wednesday that he has been privately battling cancer and receiving chemotherapy.

"For the past three months I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer," Hoppus shared on Twitter.  "I have cancer. It sucks and I’m scared, and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this."

"I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive," he continued. "Can’t wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the hopefully near future. Love to you all."

Hoppus did not reveal the type of cancer or what stage it's at.

The news comes after Hoppus, 49, appeared to reveal his diagnosis in a since-deleted Instagram post captured in a screenshot shared by a fan. Along with a photo of himself seated in what appears to be a doctor’s office hooked up to an IV the musician wrote, “Yes hello. One cancer treatment, please.”

Hoppus, a founding member of the band, along with drummer Scott Raynor and guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge -- since replaced by Travis Barker and Matt Skiba, respectively -- has also written many of the group’s songs, which have been covered by numerous other artists.

Following the reveal, Barker took to his Instagram Stories to voice support for his bandmate, writing, “Love you @markhoppus." Travis also included a throwback photo of him giving Mark a kiss on the cheek.
