Avatar is postponing the remainder of the band's U.S. tour dates due to frontman Johannes Eckerström testing positive for COVID-19.

An Instagram post from the Swedish metallers note that Eckerström, who is fully vaccinated, "feels fine under the circumstances," and "expects a full recovery shortly."

"Sadly, this will not be in time to make the remaining shows happen," the post reads.

Affected dates span from Tuesday's show in Billings, Montana, to an October 18 date in Seattle. Avatar had been on tour since early September.

"We made a point to not see friends, fans, or anyone outside our bubble on this run in order to minimize the risks," the band says. "We thank everyone who helped make this tour as safe as possible. It's amazing that we made it this far and that was a team effort."

Last month, Avatar premiered a pair of new songs: "Going Hunting" and "Barren Cloth Mother." The band's most recent album is 2020's Hunter Gatherer.
