Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows and Trivium's Matt Heafy have released statements paying tribute to vocal coach Ron Anderson, who passed away over the weekend.
In an Instagram post, Shadows calls Anderson "easily one the most important people in my career." He recalls how Anderson helped his vocals recover after undergoing surgery in 2004.
"He was a master of his craft," Shadows writes of Anderson. "If there is an entity up there, he's teaching them how to do rolled r's and scales to improve their voice. Rest in power friend."
Heafy tells a similar story, noting it was actually Shadows who'd recommended Anderson to him after he blew out his voice in 2014.
"Rest In Peace to Ron Anderson -- a man who saved my career and life," Heafy says. "My heart and condolences go out to [business partner] Pipe and Ron's entire family -- especially every artist he's ever trained (and likely saved)."
According to his website, Anderson also worked with artists including Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose, Incubus' Brandon Boyd, Paramore's Hayley Williams, and Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers, among many others.
