Sex and the City star Blair Underwood is divorcing his wife of 27-years, Désirée DaCosta. The two confirmed their separation on social media.
Underwood, 56, issued a joint statement with DaCosta on Sunday, where they announced on Instagram, "After a tremendous amount of thought, prayer & work on ourselves individually & collectively, we have come to the conclusion to end our marriage that began 27 years ago."
"It's truly been a beautiful journey," the statement furthers. "Our proudest achievements are our three incredible children. Three souls to which God entrusted us. We continue to be awed & humbled by the blessings of parenting. We have always put their best interests first & will continue to do so."
Underwood and DaCosta share daughter Brielle, who is 22, and sons Paris and Blake, who are 24 and 19, respectively.
The parents conclude, "We will continue to be the best of friends and co-parents and have the utmost respect for one another as we embark upon this new chapter of our lives, separately."
Both have requested privacy at this time and thanked fans for their "support throughout the years."
Underwood, who first rose to fame and earned two Golden Globe nominations for starring as attorney Jonathan Rollins on L.A. Law, wed DaCosta in 1994.
