Brandy has been singing since she was a child, and at 43 years old, she's not letting up. The singer is working on her forthcoming album, which she says will deliver a different sound than her supporters are used to.
"Fans are going to be shocked to know what I have up my sleeve," she told E! News. "It's not the typical, regular R&B Brandy album, I'll just say that."
Brandy also shied away from naming any potential or desired collaborators, noting, "That's kind of the surprise." "I can't really get in too deep," she explained.
The new album, a follow-up to 2020's B7, will likely be released under Motown Records, to which she recently signed. When asked how it feels to work with an iconic company, Brandy said, "It's the label that you always wanted to be signed to and wanted to feel that magic," adding "the opportunity to be with [CEO] Ethiopia [Habtemariam] and the Motown family is amazing."
No title or release date for Brandy's upcoming project has been announced. As she works on the album, however, she's been working as brand ambassador for Stella Rosa Premium Imported Brandy. She's also been helping her daughter, Sy'Rai Smith, develop her own sound as a singer.
"Her music is fire," Brandy said of her daughter's music. "I've just been listening to that and trying to help her decide what songs she should come out with."
