As he celebrates the tenth anniversary of his Sean Anderson Foundation, Big Sean is focusing on preparing students for business careers.
For the past three years, he’s partnered with the Thurgood Marshall Foundation for his Moguls in the Making program. It specifically targets students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Sean told The Grio that his goal is to “teach kids financial literacy and get them prepared for their careers. And not only just prepare, but so they can overdeliver and really be an asset to the development of businesses.”
"We can never downplay or overlook HBCUs because they are creating the leaders of tomorrow for real,” the “Bounce Back” rapper added. “We got to always show love to the HBCUs.”
The Moguls in the Making program offers 60 students a three-day, “Shark Tank” like experience. They pitch business ideas for the opportunity to earn scholarships.
The 34-year-old Detroit MC said he is very impressed with how the students learn business concepts. "All their projects have been inspirational — just to watch how they work,” Sean continued. “So it’s a beautiful thing.”
Anderson may have his own “Mogul in the Making.” In July, he announced with his longtime girlfriend, Jhené Aiko, that they are expecting their first child together.
