Anthrax and Black Label Society are set to headline the return of Tattoo the Earth.

The long-defunct music and tattoo festival will be held for the first time in 20 years on August 27, at the Palladium Outdoors in Worcester, Massachusetts. The bill also includes Hatebreed, At the Gates, Municipal Waste and Enforced, plus more to be announced.

Tattoo the Earth originally began as a touring festival in 2000 with a lineup that featured Slayer, Slipknot, Mudvayne and Sevendust. The story of that original tour -- which had been "banned from Boston for life" due to local complaints -- is told by founder Scott Alderman in the new book Caravan of Pain.

"When I wrote Caravan of Pain...I never imagined it would bring the show back to life," Alderman says.

Tickets to Tattoo the Earth 2022 go on sale this Friday, April 29, at 10 a.m. ET.

Meanwhile, Anthrax and Black Label Society are launching their own co-headlining tour in July. Hatebreed will be on the bill, as well.
